Homemade Playdough

This recipe makes GREAT play dough! It is quick, and the play dough will last a very long time.
Making it in large batches is great for groups of children, or to use as a party favor. Making your own play dough is also cheaper. The main expense is the Cream of Tartar. It is usually not sold in a large container at the grocery store, but can be purchased online. The price of this bulk container is about the same as two small spice jars purchased at a grocery store.

Mix ingredients into a medium-large sauce pan. (Children can help with this process before turning on the heat)

Notice the oil in a sports top bottle = easy to use!
3 cups flour
3 cups water
3/4 cups salt
2 tablespoons Cream of Tartar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
food coloring

Heat the mixture over medium heat until it pulls away from the edges.

Move dough to a large plate to cool.

While still warm, knead the dough many times with your hands to smooth out any lumps and bumps.

Store in an airtight container or plastic bag.
